A bit larger picture update, so I decided to write a mention about it here too! Yay, a post!

So I was shooting for Imperiumi at Finnish Metal Expo last month. Here are my pics, or actually you can see them through this link

Photoshoot time

I’ve been quite busy lately with photsoohts, couple of different “Shots”. So this tells something about the first one. Actually the first suprise is that you wont be seeing any lens flares this time! Yeah I know, I was suprised also. And instead of studio the shots were shot “on location”

We also had some snakes there, and they don’t like flashes so I had to bring along my old trusty “working lights”, the problem with them was that they are quite powerful, 1000W I might say. But I worked it out by reflecting the lights through a ceiling so no one has to look directly to them. The light they produce is really really warm, in colour I mean, but if you are lazy you can jusut fix it in adjusting the pics.

On the second part we used some flashes also, but “luckily” my radio triggers “sending part” ran out of battery in the middle of it all, and of course I didn’t have any tools with me (the next day I went on and bought some useful screw drivers etc. to with my camera bag)

Third set was done in a small bathroom with working flashes, you might remember some shower photos from the past, this time there was a bathtub included as a bonus, how cool is that? The final part of this shot was inspired by Lady Bathory, so you might gues what to expect, heh.

“editing” pictures

In my line of whatever I do with pictures, I try to avoid the word “edit” since I’m not really really editing them, I don’t even like to edit pictures. I’m more keen on “adjusting” them, since that’s basically all I do, I might crop them a bit, but most of all I work with slightly adjusting the colours, usually I like them more warm or more cold, oh yeah and more contrast, contrast is always great. Sometimes I might go as far as making a image black & white (which can save a bad shot many times) or even giving it a blueish overall tone.

Couple of days ago I had a photoshoot, this time it was few sets in “studio” and one set on location. Currently I tend to shoot the “studio” pics with four flashes, two main ones giving the well main light and then couple effect flashes, when you have black background you can give some edges to the model with them, but for me the main effect is the lens flare!

Lens flares are those you just either love or hate, and they might work or then not. But they work for me, haha. So expect to see them when dealing with black background “studio” photos.

Why those ” ” marks, well because I do those shoots in my living room, PRO. I also have a white background, but mostly I use the black one. The on location shots were done in one parking garage I’ve used before. Big thanks for the model!

Well as you might have noticed, this side of the site hasn’t been updated in ages, new pictures have been pouring to the Live Gallery though, but still haven’t found in time to write anything. To be honest, I even forgot to make the root index page refresh into this layout, but now it’s working again, sorry about that (well to be honest, one didn’t miss much, since all the content was linked from there also)

What have I been up to? Well been studying and working at the same time, so basically no free time at all. Also I haven’t had the slightest idea how to use this blog in a good way… I’ll try to look something up, maybe write something little about photoshoots I’ve had or something. We’ll see.

Yes, for sometime there hasn’t been any “good” mainsite, just the pics. Well now we once again have this wordpress powered mainsite, the pics are still there where they were, just check the “Photos” section from the navigation bar.

Also the previous blog side and the news side are now merged as one. So all the updates and other sillyness can be found from the main view from now on.
